Semester almost over!!

This semester is a first semester for alot people in college I am one who has started their first semester here at ICC. I think that it has been a great experiance so far and I have grown to many new things. One of the things that I have grown to like is that I have a little more freedom than high school and that they dont treat us like babies anymore. I have came to realize that alot kids that I went to high school have grown to be alot more mature than before and that there is less drama here in college which I think is great. I actually like my classes alot better as well. Yes ill be honest I did drop a couple class because I found them a little hard or just to much to handle at one time with my first semester of college because it is true what they say it is alot harder than high school. Plus im pretty sure im not im the only one who did so matter of fact I kno im not the only one. I like alot of the teachers and they are also alot different form the teachers in high school as well. They are alot more understanding and not always in the student bizz...lol. I also think that its great that we dont have to go to school everyday so therefore it gives us a little more time to get our homework done and other things as well. But I can say this, the one thing that I hate about ICC is that we have to so far just to get from the parking lot all the way to school and its always so cold and if you dont get there early enough you'll even have to park even farther.

Talkin Bout my Generation!!

There have been so many good and bad land marks in the world over these great long years. Our generation I think this is one of the great generations over time because so many great things has happend over our time, there has also been good things and bad things with our generation as well. As I sit and think about all the things that have happened over my time many things come to mind. One sad major event that has happened was 9-11 when the twin towers in New York city where attacked by terrorist and I believe this has some part to do with why we are at war with Iraq now. Another bad thing that has happened with our generation is our economy we have such a bad economy right now that we are in a depression. AIDS,HIV,and STDS also play a very bad factor in our generation, and yes it was big back in the day but it is even worse now. The good thing about all these is that have discovered many types of madication that keep these under control. One of the greatest things that have came about in our generation that we have finally gotten a black president Barack Obama. I feel that he has been a great aspect to our country and yes it is taking a while to get out economy back to its good always but I believe he can make it happen over time. I feel that we have a long way to go whether it be good or bad, so what do you think about our generation.

Fall is Here: week 9

Fall time is here it is one of the best times of year to me. There are so many fun things that you can do this time of year. I also believe that it is a very family orientated season. This is the season where you can just go out and have fun raking the leaves with your friends and family. Yes I must admit it has been a more than usual cold fall but its barable..lol. This is a great season to carve fun face pumkins and go tricker treating with the kids and pass out candy. One of the best parts of fall is THANKSGIVING! I love being able to go over my grandma house and wait all day as I smell the hot turkey roast in the oven and wait on the stuffing, corn,mashed potatoes, greens, mac n cheese and deviled eggs. Just knowing that the food is finally done your mouth waters as you wait in line as you walk down and get big scoops of everything on your plate. I love the feeling of having a full belly sitting back on the couch telling old family stories. The color changing leaves brightens my day as I walk outside in the morning and see the leaves fall far from the tree. Smelling pumpkin sented candles as I walk into buildings and stores just sets it off.

Week7:Should young girls be put in birthcontrol??

There are so many young girls and boy having sex these day and there is really no one that can stop them. I mean of course there parents are telling them not to have sex and that they are to young and are just not ready for that kind of responsibility. There are so many advertisments on TV and so much peer presure that most kids come across and to be honest its not that easy for people to resist. One advertisement that I do agree with is birthcontrol. I believe birthcontrol is one of the best things that could help women prevent pregnancy. Yes I know what your all thinking, why dont you just practice abstanance, well it dosent always happen that way. People are still going to have Sex!! This is why I totally agree with birthcontrol. Alot of parents dont believe that their young daughters should be put on birthcontrol because they think they are to are young and are not mature enough for it, but most of the people that are having sex are young teens and those are the people that are having babies. I believe that if think your young daughter shouldnt be on birthcontrol then you just do not have a good open mind and fail to realize the truth that is going on today. Atleast your kids are being honest and are trying to get help but if you refuse to get help for them then how do you expect them to help theirselves. This is why I think kids and their parents should have a good open minded relationship with eachother.

Week 6: How does writing in class and talking about writing help me improve?

When School first started at the beginning of the semester I thought oh lord English class, everybody talks about how they have so many paper they have to write and about how hard it going to be. But as I continue to take my english class it just gets better. I also feel that my teacher helps me very well and explains to me how to make a better paper which makes me feel alot more confident about my papers and about the way I write. In Class we get many different types of examples that help us understand how are papers should be written wether than just saying"ok class were going to write a 5 page paper on some boring subjuct". I feel that if you have a teacher that makes your writing projects more interesting you will have a better time writing. We also have an option of going to real good writing place thats called the Studio where there are people and great teachers that can help and give you opinions on how to make your paper better. I believe that this is a very good thing that they are doing for the students because they can get one on one help with their writing which sometimes make its alot easier for people to understand things. Such as myself I work way better one on one with some because it helps me focus more on what I need to know and lets me hear someones elses opinion about what think about my writing.

week#5 what would the world be like with out technology

Have you ever thought about the world and what it would be like if there was no type of technologhy. How would it be if there where no cell, phones no television, no ipods,and no computers. To us people these days in 2009 i feel that we would all feel lost. We would feel that there is nothing that we can do. Today so many people in the world have cell phone, they feel like they cant go anywhere without them but I feel that people would save much money if they didnt have them. Dont get me wrong i to have a cell phone and i feel totally lost without it. Think about if no one had a television or a computer just thing what it would be like. People would think that without any of these things they would lost in knowing what would be going on in the world and not know about any of the most recent news. When it comes down to it the fact of the matter is that it just makes it alot easier to find things. Back in the older days the people didnt have computers or T.V they got all of their information from news papers and the word on the street. Now what about the wonderful ipod that everyone loves so much, well I sure know I do. If we went back in time all the people had was a ragedy little head casette player. I also feel that if we didnt have all this technology there would be less conflict about so many things. One the other had I feel that withputn any of these things the world would be a boring place so I guess having all this technology isnt that bad, I just feel that we shouldnt take advantage of so many things and just be greatful for what we have because the world wasnt always this good.

Case Study Week 4: why should my audiance care about my topic??

As a writer you should always want people to be interested in your story or whatever you decide
to write about. Narrative writing is one of the main types of writing that you always want to make sure you grab your readers attention. For example lets say that you write a story about something that has happend to you but as you write it you are so bored with what you are writing and you just cant think of what to say and you are just so unfocused that you are rushing to get the paper done. If you are feeling that way as you write then the reader is going to feel the same way as they read the paper and might just not even want to continue reading on. On the other hand if you sit down at your desk or wherever you feel comfortable writing and know exactly what you are writing about, if you use emotions,energy and examples it will be a much better paper and your reader will love it, wanting know what comes next. There have been many times that I have wrote a paper not knowing at all what I was going to write about having the most difficult time trying to figure out what to say and not even knowing how to grab my readers attention. There have also been times where I new EXACTLY what I was going to write about ready to dip right into the readers mind and make them feel as if they there at the time. So as you write try to keep in mind that if you are interested in what you are writting then your reader will be as well.

Teenage pregnancy: week 3

These day there are many young teenage pegnancies and this is not a soft subject anymore. It used to seem real bad and brand new to people a few years ago, but not anymore. It is happening to more and more teenage kids now. I feel that this a big problem because parents are not taking resposibility for their childrens actions, because I dont think that it is compleatly the teens fault. I see many parents just let them run the streets and do whatever they what because they can not keep them undercontrol or mabey even feel that what they are doing is more important.I have seen many times when parents refuse to believe that their kids are having sex. I used to have a friend that asked her mom to put her on birthcontrol and her mom told her no because she shouldn't be having sex in the first place.But the fact off the matter is that she was and not soon after that she was pregnat.

Dont get me wrong the young kids who are having sex know what their doing. Some of them even want to babies. Their are also young boys who are just not ready to step up to the plate and become a father but are still willing to have sex. Another thing is that these kids are talking about abortions and other things I feel that if you are think you are old enough to have sex then you need to step up and take care of responsibility and by that I dont mean dropping the baby off on your parents because it just does not work that way. Being said I think that people should wait till there full grown adults and are able to take care of a baby before they have children. I also feel that parents should listen more to their kids and sit down and talk with them about sex such as it could turn into pregnancy or mabey even an STD. So please talk to your kids and kids please to your parents, they are right sometimes...lol

Sam's Letter of Introduction

Dear Stephanie,
You may know me just as Samantha Blake but there is a lot more that you should know about me. Well for one English is one of my favorite subjects, math is one of my weaknesses. I have a really good personality and get along with almost everybody. This is my first year at ICC and I graduated from Central high school. I have two younger siblings on my mother’s side I have a little sister name A’lyssa Blake who is 11 and a little brother named Bryson Blake who is 6. My major is nursing and I will only be going to ICC for one year and then I will b transferring to Methodist College of Nursing on full scholarship to pursue my dreams in becoming a registered nurse. I hope to work on the OB floor because I have always wanted to work in the postpartum unit with the mothers and their babies. I currently work at Rosewood Care Center as a certified nurses assistant I chose this career because I knew I always wanted to a nurse and I knew that this would help me get a good start.

This semester I have to goals that I would like to accomplish. One goal that I hope to accomplish is to pass all my classes with good GPA. The other goal that hope to accomplish this semester is being able to pick up better study habits and maintain good concentration with my studies and homework. As u have read this little letter I hope u have gained a little more information about me and I hope we have great semester.

WEEK2CaseStudy: What i remember most about my writing...

When it comes to writing I like to think about many things that I could write about. One thing I remember most about my writing is that I always write about what is coming from deep inside of me. I am always compleatly honest on what I feel when it comes to my writing and I always stand behind in what I believe when I write. Expecially when it comes to an open discussion in which its two sides to the story and when everyone get to voice their opinion. I also remember that I usually give examples and reasons on why I believe in what I believe about what my writing.. I remember doing many types of writing such as nerrative persuasive,autobiographies, and bibliographies. I remember there was a time when I was doing a writing project for school, my project was on sexually transmitted deseases. I did my project on AIDS and HIV. The one thing that I remember is that i had to do 50 note cards, that shows you that somestimes you have to word out and outline on how you should begin and word your writing. I also remember having to get information off of the computer about my wring topic because it was a bibliography project. I remember many things about my writing and I also remeber many things I should keep in mind when I start to write. I know that sometimes its very hard to just start writing but if you think deep about what you should do to start, you can write one of the best papers you have ever wrote.
